Great Lens-- Needs a Tripod

I took a load of photos with the 70-300 Zuiko lens... and I am very happy with the outcome. Of course, like any telephoto it is a light lover and works best in bright sunlight. Thanks to this powerful telephoto I photographed a very interesting new world of distant objects and creatures. Above 200mm it really prefers a tripod or something to steady the camera. Overall, for the money it is fine-- real bargain.

Excellent Lens

This is an excellent lens. I've only used it a little bit, but the macro mode is excellent, and the pics at full telephoto are super sharp at f8. I need some time with this lens to take better pics, but what I will say right off the bat, it's really hard to believe that the lens is in the olympus 'standard' category. Yes, it is slow in AF, and it is optically slow, but the build quality is outstanding. It has a nice, hefty, quality feel to it, and a smooth operation. It is true, the manual focus mode steps, which is a bit frustrating, but if you can't compensate by rocking a bit back and forth, I don't know what to say. At under $300.00, this lens really is a steal!

For the price this is a good choice. It is of course slow at tele and not good in low light, but is very good in bright sun, no matter what.

this is a great lens whether your using the auto or manual focus on this lens the pictures turn out sharp, hand held or on a tripod. even though I'm on a budget i like taking good quality pictures so it was nice to be able to get this lens at a much cheaper price (brand new) than if i were to go to an camera store online or otherwise. i think that i saved about a $140 by buying it here. i got what i wanted in a very timely manor. couldn't be happier with both amazon and this lens
