Spend about 200 bucks or more if you want something better.

These ready to use right out of the box... nothing else to buy. They are plug & play into any VCR, DVD recording deck, TV, or video input card. Includes remote power supply (supply can be installed near the camera or at the other end of the cable), & 60' of standard cable that will plug into any video recording device or TV (or both).

The IR emitters have a limited range of illuminating the area. A few yadrs in pitch darkness. By cranking up the contrast to max on the minitor & adjusting the brightness. It was able to see in pitch darkess up to about 15 feet. It was able to see all the way down my staircase in my shop's entrance with absolutely no light.

Street lighting is poor around my home with trees blocking a lot of the light that was there. But with the little street lighting that did bleed through the trees these cameras were able to see all the way across the street using the low-light conditions... far beyond the few yards range limit of the IR illuminators.

These lasted a few years of extreme abuse & weather conditions & still work fine. These are tiny & metal, not plastic. They are not 100% waterproof though. So for outdoor use mount them under your eves or on a covered porch/patio... or enclose them in a box. They're small enough to be easily hidden, or built inside other stuff that doesn't look like a camera (inside a smoke alarm or speaker for instance).

Though the shipping was fast, and the price is unbeatable, what you are really getting from this product is a pain in the [...].
Its REALLY small, about 2". I use it right outside our front door, and no one can detect it's even there. Which is good. It is weather sensitive and cannot get a drop of water on it. I had to build a small box to go around it for when it rains and snows. In the description it says this camera is able to be used at night, thats a lie. That was one of the main reasons I had bought it. We have had a series of break-in's to our car, at night time. I hooked up the camera to our VCR and began recording. As soon as night fell, i could not see ANYTHING outside. It was black. So I turned on our light outside, and i could make out the drivers side door, but that was it. Everything else was grey and black, and nothing could be seen. So if you are looking to buy this product for night vision, outside use, or to monitor outdoor safety....DONT.
