I bought Maxxum 7D because I already own a set of Maxxum lenses with my previous film camera. However, because digital camera increase 1.5 times of the lens' focal length, I needed a wide angle lens. I bought this one by reading only one user review (from J. Wood) that I could find on the net. But, boy, it is a pice of gold! It gives you a high quality look as well as beautiful pictures.

I take meeting pictures where people don't like to be disturbed by flash, and this lens allows me to take it in low light situation, plus the 7D's anti-shake technology allows me to get clear pictures at lower speed.

Now I feel my old lenses too heavy. I have also ordered the news 18-200 D lens. I think these two lenses will meet most of my needs. One for indoor, and the other for outdoor walk around.

Amazing how versatile and sharp this lens is

I bought this lens after I got the Maxxum 7D when it came out. I hemmed and hawed as to whether I needed the extra-wide zoom, especially since I had spent almost $2000 on the body alone. I am so glad I decided to spend the money and buy this lens. My husband and I went to Japan in March and April and I estimate I used this lens about 85% of the shots I took. It is great in low-light, and combined with the integrated anti-shake in the D7, my photos are tack-sharp, even at night. The lens is not light, but it is solid and I can't rave about it enough. Unlike a lot of camera equipment I have purchased in the past, I have never for a moment regretted buying this lens.
