- AMT alloy legs for an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio
Description
SLIK's exclusive A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the PRO 700 DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A.M.T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ration than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today's tripods.Capable of handling the weight of large format (4x5) field cameras or heavy, long telephoto lenses, The PRO 700 DX offer professional photographers and advanced amateurs the strength and stability they need while its size, and the use of A.M.T. alloy, make it lighter weight and more portable than THE PROFESSIONAL series.A tripod should be easy to use, so that that you spend more time concentrating on your photography than you do your equipment. The PRO 700 DX makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release leg locks, gearless center column, and 3 position adjustable angle leg locks for easy set up on uneven ground or steps. The adjustable angle locks combined with the PRO 700 DX Short Column (optional accessory) allow the tripod to be lowered to just 15 inches for very low angle, or macro photography in the field. The included PRO 700 DX all-metal 3-way pan head has one of the fasted and easiest to use quick release plates in the industry. SLIK made a circular quick release plate that can secure the camera to the tripod pointing in any direction, making attaching your camera (once the SLIK quick release plate is attached) more intuitive than most other heads that have squared off or angled plates.Value, today it's more important then ever. Compare the price and features of the PRO 700 DX to other manufacturers' professional camera supports and you will see that dollar for dollar and feature for feature, this is one of the best values in a professional tripod available.

Best tripod, heavy
[ Posted: 2008-11-30 ]
Bought Slik 700D tripod a few weeks ago. This is the best tripod I ever own. It is heavy, sturdy and very tall. I like the release plate, which is circular and easy to put into the slot. Absolutely recommended, if you are serious about photography.
Great tripod

It's heavy, but it's a very solid tripod. I was trying to use my Olympus e-510 with the 70-300mm zuiko lens and it was impossible with a cheap tripod. Too much vibrations! My camera now does not move at all. Totally recommended.
One must have accessory for any Photographer

This is a must have unit for any Photographer. I have a 70 - 300 mm telephoto lens and this holds the lens and camera steadily. This is very useful for,
- Tall Photographers
- People who love night photography
- People who take photos where there are more wind. I live in Chicago ("Windy City") and this unit does the job very well allowing us to concentrate more on pictures.
I took some photos yesterday and uploaded it as video. Without this unit, these photos would not have been possible for me

This tripod might not be useful for people who do hiking a lot.
Love it and definitely recommend this !!!
Nice Tripod - But Note: ....

I didn't understand why the product title on Amazon.com was for a 615-315 SLIK tripod? I called the seller and they verified that the product was indeed the SLIK pro 700DX.
I also was prompted by Amazon to purchase a carrying case and I soon found out a carrying case was included with my purchase. It may pay to find out of a carrying case comes with your purchase? Also, the carrying case Amazon recommended (large SLIK style) was about 6 inches too short.
In addition, I soon found that I would like to purchase a smaller center column so I could get closer to the ground. Amazon and the product description note you would need to purchase an additional column. I was glad I read other reviews as the center column is indeed in two pieces and easily turned into a short center column.
As for the tripod itself, it is sturdy and easily manipulated. I would certainly recommend it for its sturdiness and ease of use.
Slik Tripod not too shabby!

It is a nice heavy duty prosumer tripod. Good weight, substantial but not too heavy. Nice padding on legs, pro and comfortable. It is a little stiff. Mine is fairly new so I am not sure if it loosens up through time, but the legs are a little stiff the first few times you use them. The pan is pretty smooth but the tilt is a little rough when used at slow speed. May loosen up with time, but out of the bag it catches a little. Not a problem for still photography but not ideal for video. Still a pretty nice tripod though!
