1. This is my second recorder from Olympus that I've experienced with half or no aural output to head/ear phones!

2. no continuous playback function like on the wonderful Sony icd-sx25.

I would give it one star, but it didn't blow up in my face or anything like that; but @ this rate it's obviously not a superstar-i product!

Sincerely yours.

Gotta love it

Gotta love this...it is small like a cellphone, making it easy to carry around. It has a clip on it to make it easy to clip to the collar of your shirt, so you can easily record personal notes without have to hold it in your hand. It's playback quality is great, has excellent sound output. The down side to this tiny device is that it doesn't have a lot of recording time...(up to 4 hours and 5 minutes in LP mode...). This device is excellent if your an investigator, or employer. I used this for when I was getting help for an essay...I simply recorded it so I can play it back if I needed it instead of asking her to repeat what she had said.

In a sense this is good for high school students (saying that as a high school student you spend more time doing paper work than listening to a lecture like you do in college).

Excellent value , Excellent price

I got this digital voice recorder for my dad. It works flawlessly, decent microphone and good playback. Very happy with purchase, and highly recommend.

Next time I'll get one with more hours

Mine can only record about 40 minutes. When I'm ready to upgrade, I'll get one with more hours.

If I have already recorded something, the next recording moves into another folder. I don't know what would happen if you tried to do more than 4 short recordings, however.

One nice thing is that I can plug in my headphones and the playback is very clear.

Refurbished is a chance, but this one paid off !

I bought a refurbished Olympus VN 240 about 2 months ago, and so far I love it. I am techno challenged, but even I found it easy to use after only 1/2 hour or so with the manual and 1/2 hour of fussing with it.

I know some people [ my husband for example ] are very pessimistic about refurbished products. This particular model usually comes refurbished by THE OLYMPUS FACTORY. Probably a small glitch in all of them that they fixed and now sell as refurbished to recoup some of their losses. A win-win, if you ask me. I'm sure for what I paid- I would have had a harder to use, and less funtionable recorder- that would probably have stopped working within 6 months.

This is a well made and easy to use model that I would not have been able to afford brand new. So I am quite happy with my purchase.
