An Excellent Slide Film

I refuse to follow the herd and downgrade an excellent slide film because finding processing is problematic. E-6 processing is available from many mail order sources. Check A&I Labs in Hollywood CA. Here in Raleigh we have an excellent E-6 lab that is going to continue to process E-6 as long as they can make money doing so.

As for Provia, a fine slide film for nature and scenics. If you take people pictures use Astia. Provia does not have the saturation of Velvia and for me that is a good thing. I used Kodachrome for over thirty years and reluctantly left it this year because the Kodachrome I want is no longer being made and the consumer level of Kr 64 is just not good enough. Provia is reminiscent of Kodachrome professional 64 or 200 so I use it.

I am not going to go "digital" in my photography until there is no option. Fuji has us covered and processing is there. Use film and use film processors or you will be forced to use "digital."

Good documenting film

Fuji film is usually a cooler color toned film than say Kodak(warm tone). I use Fuji's color slide film for documenting all my artwork and important subjects. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer film to pixels for documenting.
I found a lab (Colormark)based in Phoenix, AZ that is friendly and do a good job developing slide film. They can probably ship your order to most anywhere in the US. I am sure there are other labs that process film, but this is just one that I have used and know the quality.

Film not obsolete-just the labs

A glorious film if you have a good processor.
Fuji not much help-shut the company owned labs down and
farmed it out to private labs. Have not found a good one yet!
