This digital VHS (D-VHS) tape is best suited for use with digital VCRs, like the Panasonic PV-HD1000. Digital VCRs are capable of recording both standard broadcast television like traditional VCRs, but can also record High Definition TV broadcasts. The high-grade media on this tape can store a broadcast with 1,080 active lines of resolution--more than four times the resolution of the traditional VHS format.

Thanks to digital compression technology, broadcasters will be able to transmit multiple programs simultaneously if they choose. With the D-VHS VCR and D-VHS tape, consumers will be able to record all of these new "multi-cast" programs on a particular channel without missing a moment of their favorite programs.
