Your printer comes equipped with a color LCD that allows you to review and print your photos quickly and easily with a memory card inserted. You can review up to 2000 images at a time, although the capacity of your memory card determines how many images it can store. The HP PhotoSmart 1315 printer allows you to print directly from a memory card or infrared device without being connected to a computer. Your printer also allows you to save photos from a memory card to your computer. Using HP's Automatic Color Enhancement (ACE) technology, your HP PhotoSmart 1315 printer can automatically enhance the color of images that are underexposed.
Forget having your digital photos printed by someone else. With this PhotoSmart InkJet printer, you can print full-color photos yourself quickly and easily. Print sizes range from 4 by 6 inches all the way up to 8.5 by 11 inches, at up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi resolution (the highest-resolution photos will require premium photo paper).
The HP1315 lets you print directly from your digital camera, using CompactFlash, SmartMedia, or Sony Memory Stick memory cards. Even more impressive is the built-in 2.5-inch color display panel that lets you preview, and crop, rotate, and adjust brightness to enhance photos before you print. Wireless printing is supported through the IrDA port, ideal for use with handhelds.
You can also connect directly to your computer using either the USB or parallel interfaces and included HP photo imaging software. Printing is screamingly fast, producing 17 pages per minute (ppm) black and 13 ppm color, and the printer includes both a 20-sheet, 4-by-6-inch photo tray and a 100-sheet, 8.5-by-11-inch paper tray.
The HP 1315 features color layering technology from PhotoREt III, printing richer colors for great skin tones, as a quicker printing alternative to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi resolution, while maintaining the same exceptional print quality. In addition, an automatic paper sensor detects paper type and automatically adjusts print settings.
The HP 1315 is both Mac and PC compatible (but optimized for Windows): Windows 98, 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home, and XP Professional; and Mac OS 8.6 or later on G3 or G4 with USB-connect Macintosh. Unlike the similar HP 100 and HP 1115 models, the HP 1315 can be built into a network, using optional HP print servers. The printer is backed by a one-year warranty, with the option to extend it to three years at additional cost.

Not enough info

I had tested the Hp 950 and the Hp 1315 for print quailty. Altough the HP 950 is a multi-task printer it has the same resolution, dpi, and just about the same ppm. I find HP print quailty is far superior in regards to richness of color and most important, the life feel it brings to the picture. The Hp 1315 is at best the number one"photo-smart" printer on the market ,however, the technology which is being used is not discussed and secondly the warranty compared to it's conterparts leaves a lot to be desired. One year suggests" I might brake down in 16 months". Hp confidence in this product in regards to their warranty is not good enough.
Easy to use, fantastic results

I bought this printer after seeing a friends digital photographs printed from the same model. The results are fantastic, as good as any 35mm pictures I have had developed. The true magic of this printer is it does not need to be connected to a computer. A computer phobic could use this printer. I simply put the sony memory stick in the printer and can edit and print the pictures. The printer even arranges the picture on the photogrphic paper before priting which makes it extremely economical with paprer. Used with a computer a USB connection is recommended for equally excellent results.
The other bonus of the printer is the ease of installation and use. I had the printer up and running in minutes and quickly worked out how to print my photograph with out using the manual.
Poor customer support

I'm very disappointed in Hewlett Packard as a company. My printer arrived missing parts December 24th. I have called HP Tech 3 times and was assured they would send the part right out to me. It's now January 25th and I still haven't received anything. In my opinion there are too many other manufactures who want my business, I don't need to deal with this kind of customer support.
This is a fantastic printer- for all our needs!

We had an old HP inkjet that was on it's last legs. As we had gotten a 3+ megapixel Sony digital camera recently, we were looking for something that could print photos AND documents, but not be 1000s of dollars.
I looked at the Canon S800 and this printer. I had started out looking at Epson, but had heard from friends and family that they wouldn't recommend one. I'll be honest, the Canon was a VERY close second! But the ability to use our memory stick and the fact that it's compatible with Windows XP was a big selling point for us.
I needed a photo for a 12 month calendar (present) and we put in the memory stick in and printed the photo ASAP on our coffee table as we hadn't even hooked it up to our computer. It worked wonderful- you would just have to be careful not to scratch the surface. In setting up with the computer, it took about 15 minutes and my husband said "USB is the way to go." All in all, it was the downloading of software that took the most time, but it was easy.
I highly recommend this printer and have told my family and friends about it. Yes, it's pricey, but if you can afford it, it's worth it. Also, the documents print great and the colors on the photos are true to form.
The beat printer ever!!!!!
