Easy to use but reliability poor

As a decidedly "non-computer" person, I found this camera very easy to use. I was satisfied , but not thrilled, with the picture quality, compared to my brother's digital at less than half the price. Since I had purchased the camera through Apple along with my iMac, I would have expected it to have come with a JumpShots cable compatible with the iMac. Luckily I did not go out and purchase one, as the camera did not hold up well for the relatively limited use it got. Rather than spend who know how much on repair, I am now in the market for a (non-Epson) replacement.

A disappointment...

I have enjoyed my other Epson products, and was looking forward to using this camera. Unfortunately, it has been a headache from day one. The jumpshot reader is a weak link, in my opinion. I would rather have the camera usb plug into my iMac directly. The fillm disc was defective, and it took months of long distance calls to Lexar to finally resolve the problem. I will be looking for another brand of camera to replace this one. No more Epson.

Almost Idiot Proof!

Been enjoying this camera for the last several weeks. Easy to use and set up, great pictures and easy to handle too! Already bought the 32mb Flashcard. Watch out though, I got it on a close out so Epson may be discontinuing the 650 line! GET ONE WHILE THEY LAST!

best entry level digital camera

This little gem has done me well. It has USB, takes great pictures, comes with great software, and an 8 MB memory card. USB really makes a big difference. The performance is gobs and gobs better than the serial interface. This alone makes it worthwhile. But it takes great pictures too....

This camera has been awesome!

I'm sorry to hear the trouble of the other reviewer, but this camera has been wonderful for me. I have an epson printer and I use epson photo paper and create photo albums (both hard copy and digital) of the kids for the family which frankly are better quality than the 35mm I had.

And while I love the playback feature, it's a battery eater, so I'll be picking up the electrical plug for the holidays. Also, for big picture taking opportunities, you probably should plan to buy a bigger flash card that will hold more pix. The second best resolution holds around 30 pix only and I know I usually go through more than that, though pix at that resolution print beautifully on glossy photo paper.

I do occasionally have problems with lighting and red eye, but I think it has more to do with the photographer than the camera and is pretty easily corrected in most graphics programs.

The shoot and play aspect of this is WONDERFUL! You put the usb adapter in the back of the computer, stick in your flash card and drag and drop the pix to your desktop. My family appreciates it, too, because I usually take forever getting pictures developed, copied and mailed.
