Awsome camera

this camera is very good the video display is not the best on the lcd screen but when you hook it up to a tv the image just pops the video quality is better than a cd camcorder because its a tape it uses mini dv tapes. you cant ad a michrophone to it but the sound quality it gives of from the built in mic is awsome for filming in the dark it comes with a built in flash light which is surprisingly very bright it has a firewire ort on the side for conecting it to a computer. the zoom is 250x which is awsome but if your planning to zoom in that close you might whant to get a tripod it has a image stabalizer and a lens cap which clips on to the side when recording my camera came whith a leather bag which is good for carrying the camera places also it comes with a lanyard which is ok not the most comfortable to where but it dose the job also it comes whith a remote which i like for fliming. anyway this is a very good camera i recomend this to anyone looking for a good quality camera.
just say no to JVC

JVCs are great if you don't need any accessories or never need customer service. if you do you are in trouble. I bought a JVC video recorder last year and despite it being new it came without most of the accessories offered with it--things you'll probably need such as the cable to connect it to the TV and the one to connect it to the computer. I had to buy each of these for $40 each--they would not ship them, and also had to buy the software that was supposed to come with the camera. after all that, the leads broke and the camera started eating tape. the customer service was useless and I finally just threw it out. I had owned this JVC product for less than a year and will never buy another one.
Upgrade available for Picture Navigator for Windows XP

I recently purchase a new PC with Window XP Professional. I was having trouble downloading images to my PC, like many of the other reviews have stated. I found a download which fixed my problem.

(I selected: Picture Navigator Windows® 2000 Professional and XP Update)
Good luck!
troubles transferring still images from serial port

I was quite impressed when I first used this camera, but after a few months, it's turning out to be a problem. I'm having the worst luck trying to download the still images on to my PC. Apparently, the enclosed software Multimedia Navigator(1 disc: JLIP VideoCapture | JLIP VideoProducer | PictureNavigator) does not work on the Windows 98 as it said, neither in W2K and Windows XP.
I'm still haven't been able to download my pictures because my PC doesn't recognize the camera. Apparently, many people are experiencing similar problems with downloading their images. There is no drivers for this camera and JVC support doesn't know about this issue.
Don't buy this

I bought this in a few years ago and it worked fine for a while.
But then it started giving the dreaded error regarding
the "Cleaning Tape" error and the cost of fixing this is $250!!
JVC's customer support is non-existent.
Moral of the story - pay more and get better quality.
